Project description
In collaboration with A1 Croatia and the City of Split, the Institute develops an innovative extracurricular activity STeam within the A1 project STEMfemme Junior. The aim of the activity is to empower girls to engage in various STEAM domains, and to strengthen their aspirations towards STEM professions. The extracurricular activity targets primarily female pupils, nevertheless pupils of fifth and sixth grades are also target groups. It will be implemented in 14 primary schools in Split during the school year 2023/24. By working on socially relevant issues, and through various research and creative activities and learning in the community, STeam will bring various STEAM domains closer to female pupils, and present them a hands-on application of scientific concepts and methods in daily life. STeam includes intensive collaboration with various institutions active in the STEAM domain (scientific research and educational institutions, city offices, firms, artistic organizations and collectives) in the City of Split area, as well as the establishment of mentorship relations with pupils.
