A Summary of the research report “A Lost Decade“: Attitudes of Croatian Citizens on the Questions of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Transition encompasses the most relevant results of the research conducted in 2021 within the project “METER to a better climate (Network for Education, Transition, Adaptation and Development)”, financed by the European Social Fund. The project is coordinated by the Society for Sustainable Development Design (DOOR), and the Institute is, as one of the partners, involved in the research part of the project. The project leader for the Institute is Branko Ančić, PhD, and the team members are Lana Peternel, PhD, Marija Brajdić Vuković, PhD and Tomislav Cik, MA.
Tomislav Cik is the author of the research report “A Lost Decade” and co-author of the research report Summary, along with Sandra Vlašić and Željka Jurlina.
The main aim of the research was to explore the attitudes of Croatian citizens on environmental protection, climate change and energy transition in the Republic of Croatia. The research aimed to present the way in which certain attitudes have changed in the last ten years by comparing the findings to those of a similar research, conducted in 2011 within the International Social Survey Programme.
The Summary is published with the aim of displaying more clearly and plainly the possible changes in the attitudes of the Croatian public on the questions of climate change. It is the understanding of the danger of the situation in which we are and the various perspectives of potential answers to it that form a basis for informed public policies and socially conscious strategies of mitigating climate change and adapting to it.
