A series of educational workshops for teaching the “School and Community” subject were held
Published: 15.09.2022.
The Institute for Social Research in Zagreb, in collaboration with the University of Rijeka and the Rijeka's First Croatian High School conducted educational workshops for teaching the subject “School and Community” in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the City of Zagreb and Krapina-Zagorje County in the period from March to September 2022.
Through a series of meetings and with continuous mentoring, more than 100 teachers went through seven thematic units that, we believe, prepared them for teaching a new and different subject.
The evaluation of the education completed by 92 participants indicates the satisfaction of the participants:
- The average assessment of the quality of several months of education is 4.74 (on a scale of one to five).
- All 92 participants expressed their satisfaction with the education and no one gave any of the following assessments: strongly dissatisfied, mostly dissatisfied, neither dissatisfied nor satisfied.
- 76.1% of participants are fully satisfied with the education.
- In particular, the participants expressed their satisfaction with the general atmosphere at meetings, communication with mentors and leaders, the expertise of lecturers and the usefulness of the educational content.
Much more significant than these numerical data are the individual comments of the participants, which are also presented in the evaluation.
On this occasion, we once again express our gratitude to all participants for their hard work and efforts, and to all the principals for their openness to new steps in education. Many thanks also to the hosts of our meetings Scuola media superiore italiana Fiume/Italian Secondary School in Rijeka, Vladimir Prelog Science School in Zagreb and the School of Art, Design, Graphics and Clothing in Zabok.
We wholeheartedly thank the local authorities of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the City of Zagreb and Krapina-Zagorje County for their openness and support to our innovation in education.
