ISRZ' competitive research projects include national and international projects approved for financing at competitive calls of various national and international bodies. National competitive projects include those financed by the Croatian Science Foundation, UKF programme and ESI Funds (previously IPA). International projects include those financed by the EU Programs, such as Horizon Europe (previously Horizon 2020, FP7 and FP6), Erasmus + and Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (previously Rights, Equality and Citizenship), and others.

ISRZ' other research and professional projects include projects financed under the Ministry of Science and Education (MSE) Programme Agreement for multi-year institutional financing of scientific activity (VIF), and the projects in which ISRZ collaborated with educational organizations, national, regional and/or local authorities, and national or international civil society organizations.
